How we handle your personal data
This policy explains what personal data LFC International Production Limited collects through lagosindustryawards.com and at our events, why we use it, who we share it with and the rights you have under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and, where it applies to you, the GDPR.
Who we are
LFC International Production Limited organises the Lagos Industry Awards and Lagos Industry Night and is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. This means we decide why and how it is used.
Address: No. 5 Water Corporation Road, Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
Data protection contact: info@lagosindustryawards.com. Please put "Data protection" in the subject line.
The laws we follow
We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the regulations and directives of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom and we offer you our events or services, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the UK GDPR may also apply. Where they do, you have the rights they give you, as set out below.
Under all of these laws, we only process your data fairly, lawfully and transparently; for specific purposes; no more than we need; accurately; for no longer than necessary; and securely.
What we collect and why
We collect personal data you give us through the forms on this website, by phone, WhatsApp or email, and at our events. The table shows each purpose, the legal basis we rely on and how long we keep the data.
| Where it comes from | Data | Why we use it | Legal basis | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| Nomination form | Your name, email and phone (optional); the nominee's name, the award category, why they deserve it and any link you give | To review the nomination, contact you about it, email you a receipt and the decision, and publish approved nominees | Your consent, given with the tick box on the form; our legitimate interest in running credible awards | Your contact details: until the results are final, and no later than 6 months after the awards night. The nomination itself: the awards cycle plus 2 years |

| Cookie banner | Your cookie choices | To remember your choice | Legal obligation to obtain and record consent | 365 days |
When we rely on legitimate interests, we have balanced our interests against your rights and freedoms. You can ask us for details of that balance and you can object at any time.
What is public: approved nominees' names and categories, and the total number of votes each nominee has. We never publish who nominated someone, who voted, or how many votes any person cast.
If someone nominated you and you do not want to appear, or you want details corrected, email info@lagosindustryawards.com and we will remove or correct the nomination.
You do not have to give us your data, but without it we may not be able to book your table, reply to you, process a nomination or count your vote.
Sensitive data and children
We do not ask for sensitive personal data, such as health, religion, ethnicity or biometric data. Please do not include it in forms or nominations.
Our website, forms and events are intended for adults. Under the NDPA a child is anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect a child's data without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only when needed, with:
- Service providers who process data for us under contract, such as our website host, backup service, email provider and website security tools. They may only use it on our instructions.
- Cloudflare, which runs the “I am human” check (Turnstile) on the nomination form and vote window. Cloudflare receives your IP address and information about your browser and device to tell people from robots, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. It is not used for advertising.
- Paystack (Paystack Payments Limited), a payment provider licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, which processes vote payments. When you pay, you give your card, bank or phone details directly to Paystack in its secure payment window; we never see or store them. Paystack sends us your email, the amount, the payment reference and whether the payment succeeded. Paystack's own privacy policy applies to the data you give it.
- The venue, Eko Hotel & Suites and Lagos Irish Pub, when needed to arrange your table or attendance.
- The judging panel and organising committee for nominations, under confidentiality.
- Professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants and auditors.
- Authorities, regulators or courts when the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.
Google Fonts: to display our typefaces, your browser loads font files from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address. Google's privacy policy applies to that.
Links to WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X and Google Maps take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.
International transfers
Some of our service providers store or process data outside Nigeria, for example in Europe or the United States. We only transfer personal data abroad when the destination gives it an adequate level of protection, or when appropriate safeguards are in place, such as contractual clauses approved under the NDPA or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Where neither applies, we only transfer it on another lawful basis allowed by Sections 41 to 43 of the NDPA or Chapter V of the GDPR, such as your explicit consent or the need to perform a contract with you.
How we protect it
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, access controls and strong passwords, login protection, regular updates and secure backups. Only authorised staff can see nominations and vote records.
Vote payments are made in Paystack's secure payment window, and every payment is checked directly with Paystack before its votes are counted. Your card and bank details are handled by Paystack, never by this website.
If a personal data breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will report it to the NDPC within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, as the NDPA requires, and to any other authority the law requires. If the risk to you is high, we will also tell you without undue delay, with advice on how to protect yourself.
Your rights
Under the NDPA, and the GDPR where it applies, you have the right to:
- Be informed about how we use your data. This policy does that.
- Access your data and receive a copy.
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Erase your data, where we no longer need it or have no lawful reason to keep it.
- Restrict how we use your data in certain circumstances.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
- Data portability: receive data you gave us in a common, machine-readable format, or have it sent to another organisation.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that happened before.
- Not be subject to decisions made solely by automated means that significantly affect you. We do not make such decisions. Nominations are reviewed by people. Votes are added up automatically from confirmed payments, which is not a decision about you.
To use any of these rights, email info@lagosindustryawards.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We will reply within one month, and tell you if we need longer for a complex request. Using your rights is free unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng). If the GDPR applies to you, you can complain to the data protection authority in the EU country where you live or work, or in the UK to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookie policy
How this website uses cookies
This policy explains what cookies are, which ones lagosindustryawards.com uses, and how you can control them. It forms part of our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work in the same way. Some are strictly necessary for a site to work. Others, such as analytics or advertising cookies, are optional.
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and the GDPR and the EU and UK rules on electronic communications where they apply, we must ask for your consent before we set any cookie that is not strictly necessary.
Cookies we use
We keep cookies to a minimum. Visitors to this website currently receive only strictly necessary cookies. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| lia_consent | Remembers whether you chose Accept all or Necessary only in our cookie notice, so we do not ask on every page | Strictly necessary, first party | 365 days |
| lia_vok (browser session storage, not a cookie) | Remembers that you confirmed your email with a voting code, so you are not asked again during the same visit | Strictly necessary, first party | Until you close the browser tab |
| wordpress_test_cookie | Checks that a browser accepts cookies when someone signs in to manage the site | Strictly necessary, website staff only | Session |
| wordpress_logged_in_…, wordpress_sec_… | Keep website staff signed in and secure | Strictly necessary, website staff only | Session, or 14 days if "Remember me" is ticked |
| wp-settings-…, wp-settings-time-… | Remember dashboard display settings for website staff | Functional, website staff only | 1 year |
Cookies marked "website staff only" are set only for people who sign in to manage the website, not for visitors.
If we add analytics or other optional cookies in future, for example to measure visits, they will stay off until you accept them in the cookie banner, and we will update this table first.
Third-party services
- Google Fonts: our typefaces load from Google's servers. This does not set cookies, but Google receives your IP address.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: the “I am human” check on the nomination form and vote window loads from Cloudflare when you open them. It may use cookies or similar technology that are strictly necessary to tell people from robots. It is not used for advertising or tracking across sites.
- Paystack: only when you choose to vote and open the payment window, Paystack's checkout loads from Paystack and may set its own cookies needed for secure payment and fraud prevention. Paystack's cookie and privacy policies apply. Nothing from Paystack loads until you start a payment.
- Links to WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X and Google Maps: these services do not set cookies through our site. They may set their own cookies after you follow a link to them.
How to manage cookies
Our cookie banner
When you first visit, a cookie notice asks you to choose Accept all or Necessary only before you continue. Both buttons are equally easy to use, and both let you use the whole website. Today the two choices have the same effect, because we only use strictly necessary cookies; if we add optional cookies in future, they stay off unless you choose Accept all.
You can change your choice at any time with the round Cookies button at the bottom left of every page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
Your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Look under Settings, then Privacy, in Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working, such as remembering your cookie choice.
Changes and contact
We will update this policy whenever the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows the latest version. Questions: info@lagosindustryawards.com.

- try to gain unauthorised access to the site, its server or any connected system;
- introduce viruses or other harmful code, or overload or disrupt the site;
- copy or scrape content in bulk, or use the site to send spam;

Intellectual property
The names Lagos Industry Awards and Lagos Industry Night, their logos, the trophy design, and the text, images, video and design of this website belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. You may view and share pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not use our names, logos or content for any other purpose without our written permission.
Partner and sponsor logos belong to their owners and appear with their permission.
Nominations and awards
- Nominating is free. You can nominate yourself, another person, a brand or a company.
- Information you submit in a nomination must be true, accurate and not misleading.
- If you nominate someone else, you confirm that you are entitled to share the information you provide about them.
- You must confirm your email address by opening the link we send you within 48 hours. Nominations that are never confirmed are deleted after 7 days.
- Every nomination is reviewed by the organising committee. We may verify any nomination, ask for supporting evidence, correct a name or category, and approve, reject or later remove a nomination that is incomplete, inaccurate or does not meet the published criteria. Only approved nominees appear on the website.
- Categories, eligibility criteria and timelines are set by the organising committee and may change. The current rules are published on this website.
- Winners are decided under the voting and judging rules published with the nominee list. The organising committee's decision on the final results is final.
- Nominees, finalists and winners agree that we may publish their name, organisation, photograph and a short citation in connection with the awards. A nominee can ask to be removed by emailing ${EMAIL}.
Public voting
- Each vote costs the price shown on the Vote page, currently ₦300. The total is shown before you pay. You can vote as many times as you like.
- Before paying, you confirm your email address with a 6-digit code we send you, and pass an “I am human” check. Payments made without a confirmed email are held for review and may not be counted.
- Payments are processed by Paystack. Paystack's terms apply to the payment itself.
- Votes count only once Paystack confirms the payment. The number of votes is the amount paid divided by the price per vote. You receive a confirmation on screen and by email, with your payment reference.
- Voting opens and closes on the dates published on the Vote page. When voting closes, the Vote buttons are removed and no new payments can be started.
- Paying for votes is a contribution to the public vote. Vote payments are not refundable, except where a payment was taken in error, was duplicated by a technical fault, or where the law requires a refund. To ask about a payment, email ${EMAIL} with your payment reference.
- We may cancel votes linked to fraud, stolen payment details, chargebacks, automated voting or any attempt to manipulate the vote, and remove a nominee who benefits from such activity.
- The vote counts on the website are shown for information and may update with a short delay. The official results are the ones announced by the organising committee.
- If we remove a nominee from the ballot after votes have been paid for, we will contact the voters affected using the email they gave, and explain the options.
Lagos Industry Night and table reservations
- A table request is not a confirmed booking. Your table is confirmed only when our team or the venue confirms it to you.
- Entry, table packages, minimum spend, dress code and age requirements are set by us and the venue, and are confirmed to you when we confirm your booking.
- The venue's own house rules and terms also apply while you are on its premises.
- For safety or conduct reasons, we or the venue may refuse entry or ask a guest to leave.
- Please look after your belongings. We are not responsible for items lost or damaged at an event, except where the law makes us responsible.
Photography and filming at events
Our events are photographed and filmed. By attending, you acknowledge that you may appear in photos or video that we use to cover and promote our events, on this website, on social media and in the press. If you do not want to be photographed, please tell a member of our team at the event. To ask us to remove an image of you, email info@lagosindustryawards.com and we will do so where reasonably possible.
Sponsorship and partnerships
Sponsorship tiers, prices and benefits on this website are indicative and do not form an offer. Prices are in Nigerian naira and exclude any applicable taxes, such as VAT, unless stated otherwise. A sponsorship or partnership becomes binding only when both parties sign a written agreement. If that agreement differs from this website, the agreement applies.
Changes, postponement and cancellation
We may need to change an event's date, venue, programme, performers or format, or postpone or cancel it, for reasons such as safety, venue availability or circumstances beyond our control. We will tell affected guests, nominees and partners as soon as we can. Any refunds or other arrangements are handled under the terms of the specific booking or agreement.
